It is but evident that the results of the Olympics are rather pleasing not only for Belarusian sportsmen themselves but also for all the Belarusians as it is during these Olympics that the sportsmen have shown the best country result.
So what have we got so far?
The results are really astonishing! We occupy the 6th place at present! All in all, our sportsmen took part in such activities as biathlon, freestyle, cross country skiing, mountain skiing and short-track and won 5 gold and one bronze medal.
And who are our heroes?
Well, the most famous person, the sportsman who we are all most proud of is Darya Domracheva, the leader of Belarusian biathlon team. She has won 3 gold medals (10 km Pursuit, 12.5 km Mass Start, 15 km Individual) and is considered to be the first woman in biathlon who has come first in so many competitions during any winter Olympic Games ever. When she won her third race she was given the title Hero of Belarus and became the first woman in our country to receive such an honorary award.
There are more names to be mentioned. Alla Tsuper and Anton Kushnir who have also won gold medals but in freestyle and Nadezhda Skardino who won her bronze medal in biathlon.
As you see this year Olympics were of crucial importance for our country as they helped us to firmly establish our country on a world’s sport scene and gave us something to be really proud of.
