One of the first things we do when visiting a foreign country is trying its national cuisine. There is no way you can understand a national character without tasting its typical courses. It is a common knowledge that Belarusians are famous potato-lovers. You can find so many traditional dishes made with potatoes from Draniki (beloved Belarusian potato pancakes) to Babka (a pie from meat and potatoes). If you like pork, sausage, mushrooms or various grits you will also find something in our cuisine to satisfy your appetite. And of course we can’t but mention our country’s specialty – cholodnyk - a cold soup, made with beet, eggs, and cucumbers and served with greenery and sour cream.
Eating is eating. But some like it hot. Do you see what I am getting at? Right. Alcoholic beverages. Well Belarusians can be proud of Krambambulya, for example. It is some kind of alcoholic tincture with honey and spices. We even have a musical band named after this drink!
Already intrigued? There are several places where you can try our cuisine. We recommend you to visit Rakovsky Brovar, Kuhmistr, Talaka, Grunwald or Kamyanitsa.
